I am looking at a picture and it shows the decal applied to the blower housing directly in back of the diverter handle. I know a picture is worth many words, but I'll darned if I can find one. The Golden State Parts book I have shows one, but their online catalog no longer shows this item.

If cable operated, there should be no decal on the heater describing operation. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 1,571 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 1,571 | '47-'53 Fresh Air heaters had the cable operating the defroster switch. '54-'55.1 Fresh Air heaters used the cable to switch from recirculating to fresh air, and the defroster switch was hand only.
Cecil's heater is the '54-'55.1 variety. | | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 45 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2004 Posts: 45 | Actually, the '53 fresh air heaters are just like the 54-55 in that it has the fresh air/recirculator feature. '53 was the first year for that. The defroster just uses a handle on the heater box and the cable under the dash only controls the fresh air / recirculator flap.
