There is a hole on the left side of the dash several inches above the headlight switch. It appears "not factory" to me, but I just saw a '54 on E-bay and it has a switch/knob in the same place. Is this a coincidence or was there a factory item that was available for that spot? My original cab, which is a 55/1st has no hole in that area.

This hole is directly above the headlight
switch, up about two inches. I guess the point is moot now because I just patched and welded the hole shut!!

Is your accelerator pedal pivot on the transmission cover (Hydra-Matic cab) or on the firewall/floor (manual transmission cab)?

On the trans cover Tim mentioned, does the front of it seem to "climb the firewall"? or does the front of it end where the floor pans meet the point where firewall starts up? The HydraMatic starter switch would have been about a half inch hole with a skeleto key looking notch at the top and as you mentioned, directly above the headlight switch. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 | Tim & Greg....let the killing start! That is exactly what this cab was. I knew it was a automatic tranny cab soon after I bought it. I have already welded up the dash hole, and sad to report, transplanted the missing firewall section from my cab to the new one. I had to graft the piece that holds the clutch pedal felt gasket and gas pedal pivot..just like you said. I wasn't aware the Hydramatic cabs were rare.

If the hole cover is in danger of getting tossed, let me know and I will try and talk you out of it.
