Does anyone repo the correct size knobs for a '53 truck radio?

I got a set from Jim Carters, but they were for 1/4" shafts, not the 3/16" shafts that my radio has. They also were of "cheesy" quality. Do all the vendors stock the same one? I don't mind paying for quality if it is available.

I will say that the radio bezel that I got from Carter's was top notch. Looks real good, and all the screw holes were in the right place!

I would try a set from Chevy Duty. They look the same but have metal sleeves in the shaft to lock on. I too was disappointed with JC knobs, but there other products are usually better.

The problem with the Jim Carter knobs is that the retainers are missing. They know that and are continuing to sell them. I really don't understand that. However, the price for the knobs and buttons combined was extremely attractive. I am making my own retainers out of carburetor linkage clips.

You might want to know that the speaker that they sell does not fit the straight back AD radio, only the ones with the slanted back.

I've got some knobs coming from Chevs of the 40's. They assured me that thier knobs are the correct size, and have the metal retainers. Pricey, but worth it, I hope.

Thanks for the info on the speaker. I'm not going to make this a functioning radio yet, just want it for "looks". Probably couldn't hear the radio when driving anyway.
