I had a very productive weekend. I did my headliner with naugahyde. Matches my newly reupholstered seat. Came out really nice. I made a small web page to document the process of how it was done. Have a look if your interested:

It looks great. I see you have a rear view mirror. Where is it mounted. I have one I bought a couple years ago that was labeled 41-46 truck. I have no idea where it goes and have never seen one installed other than the 50's era one that was drilled into my upper panel.

Nice job and a fine looking truck. I dig that "factory air" on those models. grin

Thanks alot, I forgot to mention that the middle trim piece is actually an extra rear trim piece. I had to cut 3" off of the ends. The bolt patter is the same. The original one is made to recieve the cardboard headliner.
Tim- I don't know what my rear view mirror came from but it's old. It's mounted on the underside of the console section. Whitney Haist told me that these old trucks didn't come with a rear view mirror inside of the cab. For my porposes, I definitly wanted one.

Hey, John

You did a beautiful job ... and WOW! -- What a beautiful truck!

I'm concerned about the adhesive you used ... on ceilings you have to be sure to use the right adhesive; with extreme heat (like Summer months) many adhesives don't hold well. 3M FoamFast is what I've been told works best.

Did your can say anything about the above?

Thanks Alan,
It says right on the can that it's specificly designed for automotive headliners and vinyl tops. And it says that it's resistant to heat. It's good stuff, easy to work with. Coencidently I found it on one of the links that you posted a few weeks ago. I thank you for that aswell. john.

FYI, I looked up the 3m FoamFast and it says it's not recomended for vinyl.

John-

Thanks for posting these very helpful shots. What a great truck. Nice to see the before, duing and after series. It inspires me as I fee overwelmed by the rusty cab.

Thanks, John.

I'm glad I asked! Now I know which adhesive to buy!

Thanks for the info. I agree that your truck is some great motivation. I'll be sending my cab, etc.. to the chem strip place in two weeks. Can't wait to get it back!
