The rear of my interior has a metal frame that goes around the back window. It's basically like an inner mold of the cab. But all the pics I see have just retaining moulding in there. How do I know what the right weatherstripping to use is? Anyone have any good pics? Good source for weatherstripping?

Also forgot, anyone got the dimensions for windows? I can't find them online anywhere and the local shop will do it for $100.

If you are looking at pics of anything other than a 41, the window frame will be different. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, But I think 41 or 42 was the last year of the metal frame around the rear window. It's been along time since I had my 41, but I think the frame was held in by clutch head screws from the inside (??). I am guessing one of the numerous parts suppliers will have the rubber gasket for a 41 window.

By the way..I forgot to say "Welcome to the Stovebolt Page". Let me be the first to ask...Ya got any pictures of your 41?

I just finished makin the webpage. I know I have the metal retaining piece. Is it called die cast? Also, I'm assuming that there is no extra trim piece needed to hold it, just the metal piece, glass, and rubber attaching them.

#11. very short window crank is windshield...not sure I see one there or not. Doors are the ones just below the #10. Rubber Vs. the other? Likely 41 Vs 46.....The war changed what was used in the trucks...just like your rear window frame...

#7 there is a brake light switch, those backup lites fit 60-66 fleetside(if you don't need em...) #6 is universal pushbutton starter switch . Aluminum cylinder is junk, it an old receiver/dryer from a/c system- unknown vehicle, prob Jap. or Eur. Brian

Haven't gotten around to checking out your website yet, but in regards to your rear window questions, I'd check out Jim Carter\'s website as he has the rear window rubber. He also sells window glass patterns on heavy paper. There are several other vendors you might check out such as Chevys of the \'40\'s and American Classic Truck Parts as well as others. I don't have my catalogs handy, but one of the outfits sells the cut glass itself. I ordered a couple of windows and windshield glass from them and they all got here in one piece. I think they also sell the rear window frame in case yours is broken (they are very fragile as I found out too late). And yes, after 1942 they changed to just having a rubber seal around it instead of the frame. The window is different, so be sure to get the '41-"42 glass.

Okay, just took a gander at your website. Can't help you out much on the parts identification. #1 sorta looks like the header panel that goes above the windshield, but it should only have one or two holes for the wipers controls. I'm with '46InProgress on #10 being a door lock handle that fits on the left side (should be square on the inside). As for #8, you can get nice repros from Jim Carter and other vendors.

I believe that there is a tech tip on this site for dealing with the windshields. They rust solid over the years and are very difficult to deal with.

I'll look at my '46 Panel today and see if I have any of those parts to help you ID them. Now on your dash insert for gauges, I made one for mine from oak with cherry trim on both ends. And as for your spare parts, interior trim. Have you got the inside windsheild post trim, both left and right?? I need them, send me an e-mail and we'll go from there

I've updated most of the webpage now to reflect the answers I have recieved, thanks for the help.

I don't think any of the handles are shorter than the other, so I might have just not gotten a window crank handle all together... I'll figure that one out somehow.
Also turns out I didn't get a windshield frame. That will be fun to find for a reasonable price. Any recommendations for going without one?
I can get all the glass for $100 from a local glass shop just down the road, so I'm hoping to just get dimensions so I'll know how much spacing I need, etc..., then I'll cut templates out of 1/4" fiberboard.

Still not quite clear on the window situation. Anyone have any pics of their rear window, so I can see what mine should or even shouldn't look like since I have the large metal insert. I don't have any metal retaining ring.

go to this Auction....there is a picture of a window in a 1941. The two vertical bars on the glass must be add on or something, but the metal frame is right.

Thanks for the compliment on the truck. I think I'm going to end up making my own windshield frame for the front once I get a nice idea of how the weatherstripping works on it. For the rear I still have no clue. The die cast piece won't fit, so I have to find that windshield frame somewhere, but havn't seen any for sale.
