Hi all,
I was wondering if you all would help me by tell me where to get one of these (1954 Chevy Speaker Grill and Ashtray) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...egory=34206&item=2482491998&rd=1
I was a little to-late to bid on this one, but it gives you an idea. I was also thinking of put some wood behind it and putting in filler but id rather have the real thing. Please help me!!!

I see these show up on eBay on a pretty regular basis (maybe every 2-4 weeks). If you can wait, this would be a good bet.

hey guys I don't think that dash assembly is for a 54! It might fit the 47-53 chevy but the grill for the 54 was redesigned- I could be wrong. If so I would be interested in one for my 54 also! I'll look into the this to be sure.
good idea though- makes em look pretty all the shiny stuff.

I also believe this is for a 47-53. I have a 55.1 and the dash does not have a removable speaker and ashtray assembly. I know I just put in a new glove box liner last night. I also believe the 54 truck dash is set up the same as my 55.1. The ebay item doesn't appear to be cut out or made to replace a cut out area in a 54 or 55.1

That's my 2 cents,

Chris

Ditto on the above.

I have a 54 ... no speaker grill.

Hey gang, I was just out at Chevy Duty's website today and I recall seeing the radio grill and ashtray assembly. I was looking in the 53-54 time frame but I don't recall if what I saw was 53 or 54.

As stellarrestorations asked, are the photos of a '53-'54 car? They are not of a '54/'55-1st Chevrolet Truck.

The first one has the ashtray on the wrong side to be for a truck. And the other one will not fit a '54 cab.

It looks like a 1954 Bel Air (and maybe other Chevy auto models - maybe 1953, too) had that style dash grill (speaker cover, ash tray, and matching glove-box door). Here is a photo I found (with classy skeleton motif).

The two eBay links above are for the same part/model - speaker grill and ashtray (one of the photos is upside down). Here is a 1954 Chevy Bel Air (Del Ray ?) glovebox door on eBay listed by the same seller who is listing the speaker grill.

My 54 five window at one time had a radio and still has the original speaker grill and ash tray. The tray is definatly on the passenger side of the speaker grill, and the glove box door is "flat" with no ridges and does not match the look of the speaker grill. Also, it looks to me as if the speaker grill and dash are one part - in other words you'ld need the whole new dash. I'll try and take some digi-pics and post em this weekend.

Or a patch panel for that section of the dash - it shouldn't be hard to find one if you ask in the Swap Meet.

It looks like you have a normal, intact '54-'55.1 Chevy dash. The speaker goes (as you mentioned in your photo caption) behind those openings, and the radio mounts in the flat area right below it. I think the recessed bars next to the radio are supposed to be black so that they blend in with the rest of the dash. It also looks like your truck has the two-tone Deluxe interior.
