hello, it appears that my starter has bit the dust. Think water damage. does anyone sell rebuilt or new replacements? looked at the usual on line parts and didnt see anything. If it cools off later will pullit and see what inside looks like. Thanks for any help

I have bought 2 from Napa. Take you old one with you to match up. I recommend keeping the old one until you know that the new one works as it should. You may be able to clean up the contacts and maker her work again. Never know what a little TLC will do to these old trucks/parts! Good luck!

Take the switch off the top of the case (2 screws) and clean up the copper contacts on both the starter housing and the switch itself. You can also touch a battery cable to the starter lug momentarily to see if the motor will spin, without unbolting the whole starter. Rock Auto sells replacement switches. The same switch works for both 6V and 12V starters.

There is a related thread on the same starter you have HERE including the original Delco Remy detailed parts lists for the starter components needed for rebuilding yours.

Your local rebuilder likely already has the info, but if not, you can certainly show him the document pictures for help in tracking down parts if needed. wink

I bought a new one from NAPA about 2 years ago. I kept the original for potential future rebuilding but the new one seems like a decent unit. It was $79

Otto - You got a NAPA part number??? Would be helpful for folks if you could share. wink

Edit note - On second thought, isn't yours a 6V? He's looking for a 12v stomp starter, which has a different drive unit than yours.

Yes. It is a 6v stomp. Sorry about that. I forgot the 12v difference.
