I would like to buy a 1946 chevy truck 1/2 ton front spindle. Apparently they are relatively the same from 37 - 59 and the same from at least 41-59.

Lucky Lee - I did some deeper searches through various Chevy Master Parts Books on the front spindle (steering knuckle, Parts Group 6.020) you seek. According to what I found, there were actually 3 different GM Part Numbers and at least 2 different casting numbers assigned to them that fit the years 1941-1950 1/2 ton trucks. I see in zooming in on the article you posted above that the source indicates that 1941-59 truck spindles are the same, but since there isn't any spec's listed there for the truck spindles, like as shown for their passenger car data, I'd want to verify that before acquiring and trying to install 1951 and later spindles. IIRC, when the Bendix brakes where introduced for the 1/2 ton truck in 1951, there was a change to the backing plates and spindles, using larger bolt holes than the previous Huck brakes. Something to consider if you intend to keep Huck brakes on your truck.

1941-42 Chevy master Parts Book lists them as GM# 605141 (no casting number listed)

1944-54 Chevy Master Parts Books lists them as GM# 607306 (forged casting# 3664551)

1957-71 Chevy Master Parts Books lists them as GM# 3708866 (casting# 3708831)

Although the spindles were listed in the Parts Books up until the number was removed in 1971, they still are only listed as fitting 1941-50 1/2 tons.

I did a semi-quick stroll through the web and found no "spindles" or "steering knuckles" offered for sale that fit these years 1/2 ton models. You may need to expand the search to front axle assemblies to find a usable spindle, if there isn't a 'Bolter hanging on to one that would let it go.

Have you checked the Hollander’s Interchange Manual?

Rusty Heaps - I didn't check before posting my reply above, but after your prompt, the pictures below show what my 25th Anniversary Edition Hollander's Interchange Manual indicates.

The only addition I'd make on earlier info is to include the '41-50 GMC 1/2 tons as also being a source, as they used the same spindles as the Chevy.

My '39-53 GMC Master Parts Book (it's a .PDF file) shows the 607306 steering knuckle with a casting number of 3664551 used on '41 thru '50 half ton and '41 only 3/4 and 1 ton GMC trucks.

Mysteriously, that 3708866 part number is penciled in on the line with the 607306 part.

My '47-'54 GMC Master Parts Book (also a .PDF) has the 3708866 part number listed as replacing the 607306 part number on the same '41 thru '50 half ton and '41 only 3/4 and 1 ton GMC trucks.

The GMC books do not list the 605141.

If your 39-53 and 47-54 list 607306 for 41 CC150 and CC250 only, what do they list for the 42? My 47 and 49 list 607306 for 41 and 42
The 41 GMC book list 605141 for CC100-250.

1939-53 GMC Master Parts Book shown below in clipboard01.jpg The 607306 part is used on 150 & 250 CC models, which is 1941 & 1942. There are no listings for 1943-45. 1946 would be EC models, which used part number 2266752. That part was used through 1952.

47-54 GMC Master Parts Book has the similar info, with 3708866 replacing 607306 as shown below in clipboard02.jpg.
