I've looked in several parts catalogs for a rubber floor mat for a 1950 truck with a 4 speed with no luck. While I'm sure the one I bought can be made to work it does not have the rectangular raised section that is around the floor shift lever. Anybody know a source for one?

Classic Parts lists their floor mat (39-012) as:

FLOORMAT FOR 1947-54 CHEVY TRUCK

A new fresh rubber floormat that replaces your old, worn and torn mat. There are perforations on the back side of this floormat so that you can choose which cut-outs you want to remove for things like the brake pedal, clutch, accelerator, gearshift, etc...

Yes this mat is not designed with a floor shift boot as being part of it. Odds are you would still need to get a seperate floorshift boot such as their 40-611. This is how my truck is done.

I think my floor mat came from LMC Truck. Followed the pattern and cut the square hole. Trouble is shift boot is round so corners show; nobody notices except me!

Jim Carter lists a round shifter boot.

LMC also lists a shifter boot. LINK

I found a nice shift boot on Amazon. I had to make a metal plate for it, but that was no problem.

Would it look better if the mat was over the shift boot? Just wondering.

I tried putting the mat over the boot. Neither way is perfect. A boot with a square base would be ideal, but I couldn't find one. It's a minor issue, IMO.

Cut outs are one thing but I am asking about the formed part that accommodates the raised rectangular section around the shift lever - not the boot. The photo online for the classic parts floor mat is poor enough that I can't see anything like what the ragged floor mat that is in my truck now. I suspect that the mat I have is original. I want a mat that was made for the 4 speed transmission and hope that someone here knows where one might be available.
Cutting the rectangular hole and keeping that portion of the original mat is an option but I'm hoping there is a correct type available.

I tried to find a replacement floor mat for my 57 with a floor shifter, I had no luck.
Someone did at some point, cause the old one fit just right.

Could you just use a regular floor mat and then use a heat gun? It might stretch to what you are looking for.

My floor bump is a little less noticeable because I had this thick padding under the matting. I don't know where you get this, it was just in the parts shed.

The material John mentions is called "jute carpet underlayment". Easily found available from lots of online sellers (and I'm sure you could find it locally) in various sizes from cut pieces to large rolls. Cut to fit. It also adds an increase in insulating and sound deadening to your cab. wink

For whatever it is worth, the 4 speed floor shifter left the assembly line w/o a rubber boot...
