Is there a new door handle remote available somewhere for the Art Deco 41-46 trucks. Found a decent drivers side door at the Back to the 50's swap meet this past weekend. However, there were no interior handles with it, and the so called remote where the door handle would attach is unusable. It's a different piece than the Advance Design trucks, not sure how it compares to the pre 41-46 trucks. If anyone is aware of a supply for these please reply. Also, the window crank mechanism could stand an upgrade.
'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12 '52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
Tom - It looks like no one is reproducing or currently offering the correct inside door handle remotes.
The 1947 Chevrolet Master Parts Book shows them as Parts Group 16.341, GM# 598907 Control, door lock remote (1" dia. x 1-1/8" thick). They are listed as fitting ALL 1939-46 Chevy (and most likely GMC) trucks and same part for both doors. They are not the same as the passenger car remotes, so no interchange there unfortunately.
Just a suggestion on my part, but I think your best bet to try and find some is to put an ad in our Truck Parts Wanted forum to see if there are any fellow 'Bolters that might be able to help you out.

Thanks guys, I thought it might be a tough find. The ad in the parts wanted is a good start. May have to attend more swap meets I guess. If anyone has more to add, please do so.
I am confused about what part Tom is searching for. I pulled out an old door assembly for an art deco truck and it has a "door handle remote" that is identical to the one Bill linked above. The part has dimensions given in Dan's attachment near the top, part # 598912, not 1" diameter. I am not sure what a "door lock remote" is, unless it refers to a part inside the lock mechanism.
I would provide Tom with the part, for the cost of shipping, if he decides that is what he needs, or he can order it from Chevs of the 40s. Kent Zimmerman
If it the part shown in Lightholder’s photo, those are easy to make in probably less than 30 minutes. All that’s s needed is some about 1/8” flat sheet, aluminum or steel, a drill press, a band saw or saber saw, and a file or course sand paper. I know because Sparky had one missing and I used the other for a pattern. Cheers!
Kent - The part that Tom is searching for isn't the remote to lock actuating "link" that you have pictured. It's actually the "remote" that the door handle attaches to shown in the attached pictures of the door inner support panels that I found offered on ebay earlier tonight.
I found several sellers offering those panels with the "remote" still installed and will post the links in Tom's "Truck Parts Wanted" ad shortly.

Well, I have the remote, but missing the spring. The two pieces of the remote are swaged together to attach it to the panel. This would necessitate grinding away the swaged area. I suppose one could re-attach by welding the part back together. It might be best to find a panel with intact remote and spring.
Thank you to everyone participating in this post. Glads51, you are exactly right with the part I'm looking for by the red arrows in the pictures above. Thank you for including the 4 offers in my post in the Parts Wanted section, I think I will actually go after one of them. Lightholder's Dad, I appreciate your input and offering the remote, can I keep your offer on the table just incase.
This is actually the first time I have ever had one of these doors apart. Learning a lot about them though using the good old hands-on method and from the Stovebolt members offering their knowledge. Hopefully a good usable door isn't far away. Will let you know what happens.
Please keep the advice and comments coming, appreciate every bit of it.
Tom, Out of curiosity, I took to grinding the peened over or swaged area that holds the two halves of the remote together. It came apart nicely. I think I can drill and tap a hole for 10-32 so that it can be reassembled on your parts. I would locktite it for final assembly. I am kind of busy today so give me a day or so. If successful, I can ship you this small piece which will easily fit in a small priority box and cost you much less than what Ebay folks are asking. I will send you a private message, as well. Kent
Kent, I appreciate you doing this work. Take your time and do it when it's convenient. I will wait to hear from you. I am also going to submit another post in the Parts Wanted for the driver's side window regulator. There was one laying at the bottom of the door when I took the interior trim panel off, but it was for a RH door and needs some work to loosen it up again.
