For your information all related bolts are off. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2021 Posts: 256 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2021 Posts: 256 | Forget it I got the cylinder head loose. Used a wood chisel well sharpened and tapped it into the head to block mating surface, no damage to mating surfaces .

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,803 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,803 | The easy way is to loosen the head bolts a couple of turns, pour about half a cup of oil into each cylinder, put the spark plugs back in, and tap the starter. Basically, a field-expedient hydraulic jack. If the engine is in running shape, just loosen the head bolts and start the engine. That's how we loosened up flathead Ford heads rusted tight to 24 studs. Sometimes we had to drive 'em around the block!
