Hello all.. just acquired a 1955 Chevy 3100.. missing a few parts.. ok, lot of parts. Probably only saving the cab... so once I remove the front fenders if someone wants the patina (and some dents) let me know. The truck is somewhat of a mystery.. it was acquired by someone saving it from the crusher, then sat for over 10 years in the woods where it made a lovely home for packrats and squirrels.. and who knows what else. On the fender, I can make out a stencil of TP 26. Maybe Texas Parks? On the passenger side of the bed there is a metal container that I can make out the words 'flameless flares' or something like that.
Anyways.. I was looking for the 2nd series area of the forums and I don't see it, so I'm gonna post my new project here. I have a vision.. but my wallet may not agree.

A lot of work but worth it. Based on the color, it may have been from the military, forest service, or other government agency. Look for a data plate riveted on the dash or body. It also has a 57 hood and some type of mount pads welded in for an engine swap. Fred

The “olive drab” paint color and stenciled “TP26” leads me to think it might be a former Army fleet vehicle.
The stencil IMO is definitely to ID tire pressure from my experience with Army fleet equipment.
Welcome to Stovebolt! I’m pretty sure you’ve been bitten by the Stovebolt bug - lol!

Welcome to the ‘bolt! I agree with John, there have been many in worse shape. We’re here to help you get her back on the road.
The best place for you to document your build is the DITY (do it yourself) forum. On that forum you can add posts and pictures so we can follow your build as well as you documenting your journey.
When you start your DITY, tell us a bit about your truck, its history, your vision and what (if any) you have already accomplished on restoring your truck. And of course, we bolters love pictures so include a few. You can include up to ten per post.
Let me give you a helpful guide on navigating the different forums on Stovebolt.
When your looking for those parts you’ll need, In addition to the usual vendors, you can place ads in the Truck Parts Wanted forum.
Again, welcome to the ‘bolt! I for one will be following.

Hmm.. interesting.. could be - would love to know factually if this was an army vehicle at some point. The only VIN I have is stamped on the frame.
