I converted my '53 3100 to 12v many years ago but I've continued to use the original 6v horns. They really sound off!
I picked up some tips from a recent thread by bucktruck. I've tested the horns by applying power directly to them and they both work fine. I see that 51 Jimmy jumped in and reported that he got his horn to honk by running a wire directly from the "S" post of his relay to the horn. That didn't work for me. Is that how I rule out a problem with that relay? If not, how do I? What else should I check before I pull the wheel?
Otto talked about a connector about 2/3 of the way up the steering column. I've never pulled my wheel but I guess I'll have to if that's where this issue leads me. Thanks for any tips!

Look under there and you'll see the wire from the horn button coming out of a slot in the steering column.

I've been using 6v clamshell horns on my 12v system for many years, then back around November of last year, the horns suddenly stopped. I tested my horn relay and found no voltage coming out of the exit side, so I replaced the horn relay with a NAPA #HR101SB. TOOT! TOOT! Just something to consider.
