Everyone here has been super helpful in the past. Looking for some advice again. I have a 1950 Chevy 3100. Looking for options and images of what suggestions everyone has for moving my tank from in cab to back under the bed. The suggestions I have found are all over the board. Aftermarket fuel cells, 97 blazer, 67 cougar, 67 Camaro and on and on. What I can tell from my frame is I have about 29” wide by 22” behind the rear end and about 8”ish depth below the frame to work with and have the fuel filler come up in the bed hopefully in the center board. I wonder if there is any data bases out there that has tank dimensions for research? Thanks again for any feedback….

I put this one in my 58.

Tank's, Inc (Yes, the apostrophe bugs me too, but that is how they spell their name)

It is an easy one person installation because the flange on one side goes inside the frame, them I lift the other side and bolt it up. The put the bolts in the first side.

There is a center fill option as well, since that is what you want.

I am very pleased with it.

That’s a good option, looks like you can swap the side fill to center fill? Did you take any photos of the install?

Why do you want to move the tank? Just curious.

Do it the hard way, or easy way depending on how you look at, and build your own. I used 14 gauge cold rolled steel, cut and mig welded together. It's heavy enough to take a hard hit if something was to go way bad. I used a fill port from a boat supply through the bed. I moved mine out of the cab ( '37 ) because you had to remove the passenger seat bottom to fill the original tank!

I moved mine because I was putting in an EFI pump and I wanted the noise from that to be farther away.

It also ended up being helpful because the new seat I put in extends into the area where the stock tank was.

I put a Brothers aluminum tank in my 58. Prices are WAY up now.
I relocated mine for no gas in the cab. Added weight to the back end and room behind the seat.

BD,

I went to the Brothers Tanks website but didn't see listings for non-specific vehicle tanks. Maybe I just didn't know where to look for them on the site.
Do you know if they are still offering tanks like the one in your photos?

Thanks!

i bought a tank from Tank's Inc. It was a universal tank #USPT-GH and I used a pop up filler that I installed in the drivers rear fender as I didn't want a filler to be in the center of the wood bed. Didn't think it wouid be a great idea to have fuel spill on the wood bed and ruin the finish. I have attached several pictures (I hope) show in installation and the routing for the filler tubes and hoses. My truck is a 52 3100

this is mine 1955-59 Task force. But they have a steel one for your truck.
Almost though having one made for that money. Price of aluminum and having someone make it.

When I relocated the tank in my Dad's 1949, we found a tank in the salvage yard from a Jeep Cherokee. It fit down between the frame rails behind the rear differential with a very minor bit of trimming.

This is probably a bit late for your suggestion, but this is what I did. Tank was about $200, and is dual purpose, regular or EFI. 50’s Chevy sedan side fill. I did go way overboard on making the in-bed shield, but I don’t plan on hauling much except for butt. Just didn’t want it to be like the usual center bed or fender fills.

I like that idea, Chip O. That looks a lot better than the gas cap in the bed floor or on the fender. Your method looks much more like a factory job.
