What type of hydraulic fluid do I need to top off my harbor freight shop crane. "8ton ram"
I blew out a seal and had to replace lost some of the hydraulic fluid and need to add more.

Thanks

Focus,

The VERY easiest drill would be to go to your FLAPS and pick up a quart of "jack oil"! It will be a generic hydraulic oil and will undoubtedly be compatible with the oil in your HF crane.

If you want to be technical, any AW-32 hydraulic oil would do....even ATF would work! Because there isn't a powered pump involved, the system is very forgiving.

I hope the hoist didn't have a brand new engine hanging from the hook when it blew its brains!

Thanks Stuart
No I was lifting a cedar log to take to the sawmill for lumber to make the top of a padio table when it blew guess was a little to much.
But after six months waiting on seal parts from
HF I am ready to use it on the 59 truck.

I always use ATF, oil is oil to me-ATF is prettier when it spills all over the floor

While hydralic oil is probably better, most any oil you use will work.
