Does anyone know of a coil bracket that isn't too small? The original one is way too small for the coils I've got, I was using the coil attached with just one bolt, temporarily, then adding oil discovered that the bolt holes go through into the crankcase... Installed the other bolt not through the bracket so there's not a hole into crankcase, but would like to do it right.
High Plains - Can you post a picture of your coil and bracket on your 261? It'll help us help you with some possible pointers to resolve the problem.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have encountered the same issue with my '50 Chev, 216, with 6 volt system. New coils seem to be just a skosh fatter than they were back in the day. Got creative and stretched the coil bracket enough to go around the new coil, bent the mounting legs to lay flat against the head, and found an all-thread machine screw that was long enough to go through the new positioning of the bracket. Really don't think I needed the screw, because the bracket is so tight on the coil.
