The room in my 37 has been tight since day one so I replaced the column drop to one from a 41-6 and now have about 3/4 inch more room. It's nice that the steering box is just clamped in so the column can be moved up or down easy.
Jeff - Was there enough flexibility in the steering column to allow it to move without fussing with the actual steering box mounting, or did you have to make some mods/adjustments to allow for the column repositioning?

Those years of trucks have a round mounting clamp section on the gear box. A couple bolts holds it to the frame rail, so loosening the bolts will allow for vertical movement of the column. It will lay down on the seat or go up till it hits the dash, its a good way to gain lap room. The bolts can be reached from the engine compartment.
