I need help to ID a 5 speed transmission I recently acquired. Borg Warner Casting numbers: Case 13-38 065-901, rear housing 13-38-007-902 Std GM bellhousing mount, oblong shaped aluminum case with ribs, 10 spline input shaft, mechanical speedometer drive, shifter located at rear of housing.
It's not a T5 best as I can tell as the numbers don't correspond with the 1352-000 series. I didn't give much for it and it looked interesting. I thought it could be from A LUV Truck (Isuzu) but couldn't find much reference to a 5 speed, only a 4 speed. Any assistance would be appreciated. Fred

AI comes back with that number as a 4 speed. Predating the T-5, apparently.
"The Borg Warner 13-38-065-901 is the part number for an aluminum-cased, 4-speed manual transmission commonly used in classic GM vehicles from the 1970s, such as certain Chevy Nova, Camaro, and Cosworth Vega models, serving as a robust replacement or upgrade for period hot rods and performance cars."

Thanks Kevin, I went back and did a sanity check. It's in really nice shape, shifts and turns freely. I was able to engage 5 forward gears and reverse by turning the input shaft. Somehow this one got missed in final inspection. Fred

Fred - Seems you've found what some folks call the predecessor to the T-5. It's actually a Borg Warner T-50 5 speed OD transmission. See the snapshot below for some generic info on the transmission. I actually drove a late '70s Chevy Monza with this 5 speed. It was well suited for that little thing, but I have my doubts about use in a truck. It's also hard to find parts for if it needs repairs/rebuilding IIRC.

Thanks Dan, Hopefully it will be useful to someone. I also picked up a stubby 3 speed with a Corvette close ratio gear set and a HD truck 3 speed. There is a gold mine of Pontiac racing goodies and a Richmond 5 speed at the same location but that's a story for another day. Fred

I hang out on a Pontiac enthusiast's web site (left over from my '57 GMC which came from the factory with a Pontiac V8). I'd be happy to post the Pontiac info over there and see if there is any interest.
