I tore into my son's 270 today. Figured that as long as the balancer, fan, and radiator are out it would be a good time to reseal the timing cover. Guess I'm the last to know that you don't do that without resealing the oil pan too (not to mention inspecing the flywheel and adjusting the tie-rod ends). Any way, I now need a new gasket for the timing cover, a new seal around the crank, and a gasket for the oil pan. While I'm at it I might as well get the valve cover, head, and mainfolds gaskets -- and why not new radiator hoses.
Where do I start -- my local NAPA guy, or mail order, or internet, or do I make them myself or what? The Pep Boys girls and boys just got that deer in the headlights look and kept mumbling "270....270....270....".
While I'm asking questions, does anybody suggest anything else that I should work on as long as I'm accelerating my state of dis-repair

?
