I just installed the two rod braces to the rear of the rear fenders and I have two more shorter braces. Can anyone tell me where these two get installed?

John - Have you gotten to the front fenders yet??? My 1929-46 Chevy Master Parts Price List shows there seem to be two different sets of front fender braces, depending on what fenders are on the trucks. The sets are listed as for left and right sides (individual part numbers) that go with specific part numbered fenders. There is a set that matches with 2 different part numbered types of front fenders that seem to coincide with pickups (Commercial) and a different set of braces that coincide with the Utility truck fenders, at least from what I can deduce from the limited description.
Of course none of the descriptions indicate a length. Argh!

Dan - These two rods are shorter than the rear ones. I have one front fender installed. I think I'll go lay down under the fender and look to see if any two holes would fit these braces. I think I got lucky on the rear fenders as one of them still had the brace attached. All I had to do was find a hole the brace would reached and then do the same on the other side.

A little more detail from the description on the braces listed for the pickup fenders seems to indicate "left, dash" and "right, dash" (used to support inner skirt of fenders). That description leaves me scratching my head wonder where they actual go??? Might have to look in less than obvious places.

Those are braces for the front fenders. As I recall there is a difference between which fits best for each side. They fit at the bottom, outside front corner of each fender. If needed, I’ll get a photo for you when I get back to the shop tomorrow or the next day.
A picture would be great. Yes, each is a little different in the way one end twists - right and left. I didn't see a hole where the brace could connect. I'm going to check the fender again.

First: My recollection was wrong regarding the brace placement location. Sorry. They fasten to the chin and fender near the frame horns. See the attached photo.
OK - that is very helpful. I cannot install these braces until I get the front center lower pan installed later. Thank you for checking on this for me!

I did go out to the shed to look at my lower pan and it does have the hole for one end of the brace. You can see the outline of one end. The pan has a welded on square nut.

After getting the front grille installed, I added my fender brace on both sides. Glad I took some pictures and saw the loose bolts. I'll get them all tightened up.

This thread got my interest as I don't recall these braces on my '42. I don't have them and there is no upper hole to place one. Perhaps this is a post war variation? Kent
