I have a heater core with a small leak at this blue mark at the stem.
How would be the best way to fix this? DIY

You should be able to solder that shut. I'm assuming you mean right where the nozzle connects to the tank.
Clean it up with a wire brush till it's shiny, apply some acid flux and carefully heat and run some solder at the joint. Copper and brass are really pretty easy to solder, but you definitely need it clean.

Stand it upright and fill the core with water to protect the solder below where you are soldering.
You need an acetylene soldering torch to do this successfully the first go round. Its a small tank which only has acetylene. It has a flame tip which provides excellent control of where you want the heat to go.
Keep the heat moving as you heat up that nozzle all the way around until the solder melts when you touch the solder to the metal.

Took 2 attempts but got it sealed. I used a soldering iron to heat the copper/brass slightly
and laid the solder down and it stuck. Then went over with the small acetylene torch and got it to migrate.

Good deal. You did better than most with these cores.

I need 2 heaters in my panel truck. I had the core and housing/motor. I`ll try to mount it under the dash
,if not that under the seat.

I thought maybe an original heater core and motor would fit somewhere but does not look doable.
On the subject of heat, has anyone tried and happy with the under dash heaters?
Some are universal , like for a tractor or semi.
I`m thinking they don`t throw out much hot air.

That under dash unit looks pretty much identical to the dealer installed heaters used from the 50s on back. It's a little radiator inside a box with a fan motor in front of it. I bet it will put out plenty of heat.

I was offered one of these heaters at $140 and got it. Installed, just no engine yet.

Where did you install the control switch?

Have not yet, but its going there next to the manual O/D cable for the SM-319. Under the ash tray.
Im trying to find an affordable under dash cable mount bracket. $35 + seems alot.
Maybe I have one. IDK.
