I recently bought a fan shroud designed to accommodate late 235s with the low-mount water pump in AD pickups. It doesn't fit mine.
It came in just a few days and says on the box for 18-1/2 X 20 inch radiators. My radiator is 19-1/2 inches wide. Were big truck radiators wider or has the vendor or me made an incorrect assumption? I got the radiator from a bone yard decades ago and it was marked "54 ton and a half", it's way thicker with bigger tanks than the original in my 1-ton pickup. I used it for a decade or more till it leaked too bad then had it recored. The shroud is a good idea and accommodates the fan which extends below the radiator frame. But with my 18-inch fan I can't just modify the brackets and let some of the radiator be outside the shroud.
Just a head's up for guys with 18-1/2" X 20" radiators and smaller fans, these things exist, are available from Vintage Air and the price is right. 1951 3800 1-ton"Earning its keep from the get-go"In the DITY Gallery1962 261 (w/cam, Fenton headers, 2 carbs, MSD ign.), SM420 & Brown-Lipe 6231A 3spd aux. trans, stock axles & brakes. And then the 2 ton was larger at 17 quart...from the shop manual, anyway. Hope it helps. I have a shroud I got from Old Air Products in Ft Worth and that is an excellent product. Heavy aluminum and made to last forever.
