I have a '51 Chevy 3100 that I put in a 292 inline 6 and am now installing the brake power booster in the firewall. This booster (on the fender of one picture) came in the bucket of parts, with the truck purchase several years ago. I also loosely installed a universal hanging dual pedal kit that straddles the steering column. My problem is, the booster mounts over the air cleaner, is low and just doesn't look correct (white paper on firewall). Has anyone on the forum experienced this problem and what are my possible solutions? I can make this work as is, but I don't like the booster looking like it's resting on the air cleaner. Any help, comment or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
51Gib - Welcome back! I think your topic might fit best and get more responses and suggestions in the HiPo Shop as your project involves the later 292 (which looks really nice BTW) and the relocated pedal assembly and brake components, so it's been moved there.
I'm sure others will be along soon to offer some thoughts, comments and suggestions to try and help you with this.

How about using an air cleaner with an oval shape instead of that big round one? Maybe redesign the oval base with the inlet near one end instead of the middle? Jerry

I thought about all the air cleaner options (this big ol round one came with the carb purchase) but I would really like to get the booster over to the fender closer. With this universal assembly I would need to cut and bend the pedal brackets plus they need extended anyway. They are too high up. Has anyone done that before? I need to keep that brake pedal to the right of the steering column.
Take a look at Speedway. They have several different setup options for Hot Rod builds and Street Rods. I have even seen a bracket on their sit for a 90 degree mount.

Perhaps this CPP Offset Power Brake Booster Kit, which says it moves everything 1-1/2" towards the drive side and 2" up (from the normal straight out position) would give you enough clearance? It's designed for 1948-54 Full Size cars, but I think it could be possibly adapted to your planned application. Picture below shows the rear view of the unit to show the offset bracket and rod assembly.

Craig also has a good suggestion on looking at Speedway stuff. Here's a Speedway Bracket Kit that could be adapted that raises the booster/master cylinder. Nothing in the web page indicates how much the offset "up" is, but a SWAG looks to be about 1-1/2" or so. It' doesn't do anything for moving the unit to the side though.
