on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2025 Posts: 9 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2025 Posts: 9 | I have a 1953 Chevy 1/2 ton model 3100 that I want to convert the shifter from the steering column to the floor. It has a Chevrolet 3 speed manual transmission that is original. Also has the original torque tube. I see that there are several shifter conversion kits available out there, but they all seem to mount on the rear of the transmission. My concern is that this shifter arm would then run into the bench seat in the cab. Does anyone know if this is actually going to be a problem, and if so, what are the solutions to it? Also, are there any shifter kits that mount directly on top of the trans that would move the shifter arm further forward and avoid this problem?

I believe he has or had a guidance doc on the conversion you are wanting to do. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,740 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,740 | The Hurst "dual Pattern" 3 speed shifter had several shapes of shift sticks available to deal with bench seat interference problems. Take information from that "tech net" website with a rather large grain of salt- - - -it's mostly copy/paste information from other places with no attribution for the original sources. Jerry

It looks to be very complicated with a lot of custom fabricated pieces described as "sculpting". Doesn't sound all that great to me. I would rather use an off the shelf version. Do you have a part number or model number for the "Hurst dual pattern 3 speed shifter, or a source I can go to?

Any welder/machinist with a few brain cells to rub together can custom fit the handle to a specific vehicle. www.ebay.com/itm/116511692559?Jerry
