on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 13 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 13 | I just finished a 24x36 shop and now I need a heater for it. I would like a wall hung and would like an electric no hassle heater. I have seen a few on the internet, but it's hard to tell if they are any good or not.
Can anybody recommend a heater, or can give me any tips on what to look for? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 687 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 687 | Mike: You didn't want to go with gas? My shop is all most same size hair smaller 4 yrs old went with a Red DAWG ceiling mounted does great job especially with ceiling fan added to center of ceiling. Check with a few electrical contractors see what the advise. popcorn The Truth is Out There (At least ya got a shop!!) | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,745 Member | | Member Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 1,745 | In my fish hatchery I also used gas. Much cheaper around here. I like what they call a zero clearance heater. You mount it on an outside wall and don't need a flue all the way to the roof. It just has a little round hood on the outside of the wall. Cheap and easy to install. You can safely put things right next to the heater.

I think it is rated at 49k BTUs, the natural gas model puts out 60k. I wanted electric but none come close to the Dayton. I use a 250 gal propane tank, fill once a year @$120-140. No pilot, electronic ignition. Heats my 30x30x10 like you can't believe. Brian | | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 66 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 66 | i use a daton 75,000 btu . Gas prices are kind of high right now and waste oil is free. Two years ago, my inlaws were spending $300 a month to heat their house to 65 degrees with natural gas, and $0 a month to keep their shop at 80 degrees. However, you do need a steady supply of used oil during the winter.
