Hello,

Is a split distributor shaft a normal part in 292ci truck engines? I bought a new HEI distributor. The new one´s shaft is solid one piece.

Both styles of shaft have been used pretty much interchangeably in 230, 250, and 292 engines. I'm partial to the solid shaft models, as I've seen a couple of sectional shafts break when a high volume oil pump is used. A small modification of the housing is necessary if the HEI is used in a 216, 235, or 261 engine to make sure the oil pump drive and drive gear engagement is at the correct depth.
