Ah, the annual "Christmas tree run"! Cool. Anybody use their truck to make a Thanksgiving grocery run???
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I was going to put this in the Stovebolt Driving Report, but that thread seems to have disappeared. Anyway, Ol' Roy has 171 miles on it since I fixed the instrument lights and installed the rebuilt speedometer last weekend.
Here are some poor shots coming home from Thanksgiving last night.

No grocery run but the Green Truck did haul some precious cargo. Out of state Grands home for the Holiday. Then it delivered family feast estentials to the cabin for the Family Feast.
Precious cargo indeed sir! Thanks for sharing the great pictures and glad to see you were able to share the holiday with family!

Today I started getting ready for my town's Christmas parade on Friday. Washed the truck for the first time since the 4th of July parade. Then picked up 3 bales of alfalfa for the kids to sit on in the back. I'll donate the bales to the 4 horses that live across the road from me after the parade is over. The black trash bags are full of loose hay that I'll use to stuff the Santa hat (see picture from 2 years ago below).

Bill - Your truck in Santa attire is guaranteed to be a Christmas hit again this year. Looking forward to seeing it fully decked out and in the parade!

The Green Truck went wild Christmas tree hunting, bagged 6. With a good wash job, the parade sideboards on and a Free Christmas Tree sign along with the wild trees it’ll be ready for the Christmas parade Saturday.
RonR, Very much looking forward to some pictures sir!!! Not to mention if there may happen to be some other Stovebolt trucks in the parade, post some of those too would ya?

My brother Jack rode shotgun and sister Chris with her two grandkids rode in the back of the ' 52 for the Fredericksburg Texas Christmas parade last night.
The 1st 30 minutes of our local Christmas parade is broadcast on the Austin Tx CBS affiliate (80 road miles away). The first floats/entries are always local churches, charities and businesses, but this year I actually made it to the cameras in time to get on TV. My truck first shows up on the right side of the picture at 25:33 in the TV station's YouTube post at here. There is a better picture at 25:52 and about 1/2 second at 56:44.

New long-distance record. 57 miles, all interstate, yesterday to work. My truck is being pulled into duty for the company’s entry in local Christmas parade.
Ran great. Hit 80 mph a couple times whilst passing. It’s real happy at 70-72 mph and that’s where I tried to keep it. Tried a full throttle pull up the only major hill on this route. Had to let out of it as I was still gaining speed at 80 mph and getting too close to the car in front of me.
80! What engine and trans do you have in that truck?

JW51, What kinda RPM are you encountering running at 70-72 mph?

JW - Awesome news on your new distance record and seeing your truck out and about! That 3.38 rear gear is certainly responsible for much of that high speed running. The later 235 doesn't hurt either. Be sure to get someone (you know what I'm saying - hahaha) to take pictures of the Christmas Parade! Those need to be posted in here too.

I put "Thor" to work helping with my shop project. I have made several trips getting materials. He makes a pretty good work platform too.

Been working on the main barn -- clean up and removing four stalls, plus a lot of scrap wood that's been collected over the years. The '73 Cornbolt came in very handy.

I've been driving Ol' Roy a lot lately since the overheating issue has gone away and I have the rebuilt odometer installed. Over 500 miles on it so far after installation.
Woohoo! working gauges that you can see at night!
I took a couple loads of fire wood out to my mom's house for Christmas. The stack immediately behind the truck as seen from above Was the load I took out there. No problems at all.
Driving in Atlanta on Christmas sure beats the usual state of affairs. It's like the zombie apocalypse out there!
The building on the left with the holes in it is the Peachtree Summit Building. My dad worked in that building when we moved here from Cleveland, Oh. Today the building is entirely occupied by offices of the Federal Government - mostly the IRS.

What a day delivering a bed full of seasoned oak. Mount Shasta in the background. Working Truck!
As a midwestern flatlander that could watch my dog run away for a week before I lost sight, that is an amazing view in those photos. Im used to being the biggest thing in the surrounding area wherever I go, I cant imagine feeling so small next to views like that. That is an amazingly photogenic truck.
Add in the load and original patina showing the truck still doing its thing after 3/4 of a century; that's a wall hanger if I've ever seen one.
Shaffer's1950 - Those are definitely some beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing. They may just get an invite from John and Peggy as something for one of this years calendars. I'm going to drop a hint to Peggy as she heads up that stuff and see what we can do. Keep 'em coming folks!

Dragging my daughter's ATV to Bandera (50 miles) for repair work. She leaves it at my place, so I get to take care of it.
Foggy this morning. When you went over top of a hill visibility dropped to about 2-300 feet.
