So I received the sniper 2. Installed and found out fittings for fuel regulator were not included. No parts houses around me carried 6AN oringed fittings so a couple of orders and I had what I needed...

Got the regulator in place and plumbed. It leaked from every source including between the two halves of the unit. Every screw and plug were loose.

They said it came pre set which was incorrect. It came at 25lbs and I needed 60. Of course they didn't send a gauge with the replacement.

Got it fired and let it run for 3 fan cycles and then drove around my driveway. So far here are my impressions.

1. Unless I simply got a bad one the sniper 2 is much better.
2. Throttle response is much better and is manageable. It appears programming softens the roll in.
3. If you're wondering if you should buy the wiring block do it. It is so much better. I will be buying shortly.
4. Engine is smoother when at idle and when rolling into throttle vs the 1.

Of course it is winter now and I can't put it on the road for a real test, but it is moving again.

I will be making wiring permenant and cleaning up soon. With the fuel regulator in plain view takes away from the nostalgia but it is what it is.

The serpentine belt already did that.

Good to hear it seems better than the first version. I had more than one tell me I should’ve used a sniper on my big block. Did Holly help you out on the 2nd unit?

BluePrint sent me the replacement not Holley. I was frustrated as they did not provide me the total kit, just the basics. I will be talking to blueprint again about the additional money I spent on fittings and gauge.

True, but you would be surprised how many people miss that.

In all truthfulness......it's a V8, in a V8 era, you did the engine bay nice and clean. It's a 66, nostalgia is vague after 59. I would mount the regulator way lower, under the A/C hoses. Keep it's hoses down under all those other hoses as best you can and all will "disappear". Good job figuring out the right plan, getting the fittings and installing "carb" and reg without much help from vendors.

I said screw it and took it for a 10 mile or so drive yesterday in 10 degree temps. I have to say the sniper II is much much better vs the I. It drives like a normal vehicle now. No crazy throttle response, no bucking at lower rpm, etc.

For what it is worth, I am running the sniper 1 and I don't have any of those problems. Those driveability issues might have been due to the fact that you had a bad unit.

It is great to hear that the new one is working well for you.
