Several years ago, several of us ODSS guys picked up Buddy.

Here is Billy Marlow's Video of the day we brought him home. Buddy resided at Stovebolt HQ until headquarters moved. He then lived at the Roache Farm. Now, he is in VA with me. Mike brought Buddy over the river last year. My plan for Buddy is to replace the wheels and tires as they have succumbed to time. Replace the bedwood as it is rotten. Fix the holes in the floor, make him mechanically sound, then just drive him!

He has sat mostly dormant simply because getting Buddy started required two people. One to drag him and another to pop the clutch.

Since here I pulled and tested the started, fine. Battery was suspect, and battery cables were cobbled together to say it nicely. Given my past 6V experience, I acquired 2/0 battery cables and borrowed the GreenMachine's OPTIMA battery. Boom, he fired right up!

Got air pressure right away and up the hill we went! Our run didn't last long as it was pretty warm and the original water pump finally leaked like crazy. A waterpump rebuild is now top of the list. I found a place called Marvelous Parts of Oregon and spoke with Mike the owner. The plan is to remove my waterpump and send it across the country to Oregon for a rebuild. Said he could turn it around in about a week once he gets it.

Does anyone have experience with this company??

Let the games begin!

Oh, and good work, Chris. Add a gold star (in lieu of a second award) to your ODSS Meritorious Achievement Medal.

The ol' "foot thru the floor" trick will be a chore to overcome. Better start sawing some logs for flooring.

Sweet,

I've never dealt with the firm you mentioned, but have had great success using Flying Dutchman (Wade Jenezon) for rebuilding water pumps, he machines the old pump to take modern seals. You can reach him by calling 541-450-2277. He's in Gold Hill, OR.

Any more on this truck. I’m currently looking for a rebuild kit or new master cylinder for my 1950 GMC 453 Firetruck. No luck so far.
