i've been kicking around this idea for alittle bit, and would like your input. i got this card from craftsman at the nationals a few years ago that gives me a discount on tools, and i get info in the form of a flyer from them informing me of unadvertised specials from them. mac tools is the official sponcer of the u.s. nationals this year, and i was thinking of seeing if i could arrange a similar deal for us bolters. i also thought it could work for suppliers of parts and services. i DO NOT WISH TO ENDORSE OR TRY TO SELL ANY ONE PRODUCT IN PATICULAR. the concept is to try to use our collective buying power to get us all the best prices on the goods and services we use. an example of this is the refrigerant i buy for my auto air business. i do not pay retail, not even close, but i buy in a greater quantity. if i could arrange it so that we became a buying block, instead of individuals, we all might get a better deal. think of it this way---rabid capitalism. what do you guys think? no advertising on the page, but info on how to find a better deal for bolters. the ideal situation would be a membership type thing from several supplies of the same product, that way no one products is endorsed, and you choose where and what you buy based on your preference, and price.

I couldn't afford MAC tools even with a hefty discount. And I can buy SK tools locally at jobber price.

What do we need to do to get something like this going?

the goodguys hot rod show comes to indy pretty soon. there is alot of hop up stuff, and alot of resto stuff as well. many hard to find reproduced parts (ever try to find a instrument panel for a 68-72 chevy with the factory tach? or, maybe original trim for a 55 truck?) things along this line is what i'm talking about. many new automotive services and products. there is always 200 plus vendors, all ready to deal. what i'm considering is trying to contact as many as possible to become a part of our little group, and offer us a sort of volume discount. i realize the parts won't be totally original, but may be just what you need to finish your project. yes tool vendors are on the list, but so are parts and services. in short, anything and everything i can arrange. thing is, i gotta see some interest by you guys, and so far i ain't. 2 or 3 of us will not make this practical. 2 or 3 hundred of us might, and a thousand of us will, and there are that many of us. it's like you calling for a gallon of paint, and wal-mart calling for a hundred thousand gallons of the same thing----guess who gets the better price. the info exchanged on this site is useful, all i want to do is make it more financially useful, and easier to locate. hard to find parts, tools, acessories, tools, at the best price possible. like my old friend justin used to say "sorta makes tings more better".

I was just remembering a few years ago, I had a Snap-On scanner ,Snap-On High dollar timing-light/tach and a few other tools stolen.Somone got a really good discount on those tools!!!!
.I hope whoever got them uses them well and if they do not,,,I hope they Get the wires and leads caught in the fan of their vehicle and short out their ,,,,,,,,,,Never mind, I will let by-gones be by-gones! :rolleyes:

** didn't mean to sound scarcastic but I get sick of companies hyping "discounts" but its from an already inflated price...get the picture. A real deal I will buy but not one someone "says" is a discount. I'm watching to see where this goes. My visa # is.........................!
