Shows the 1938-53 All (216/235) and 1954-55 235 (except Powerglide equipped - w/hydraulic lifters) used the same valve springs. The Powerglide equipped 235 engines for 1954-55 used the same spring as later 235's and 261's. Others with more knowledge about if the valve springs can be interchanged should be along soon to provide more detail and response to your question.

Yes. 7th column gives seat pressure and height. Different for each motor. I don’t have my 59 chevy parts book handy right at the moment but I believe there are two different part numbers for the springs for 55.
Other GM engines that use positive rotators on the exhaust valves use a slightly shorter valve spring on the exhaust- - - - -about 1/8", IIRC, to compensate for the thickness of the rotator. Don't some of the 261's have a similar arrangement? Jerry

I think all 261 used exhaust valve rotators, I have a 261 stashed that has them, as does the '59 261 in my 60 C10, 848 head.
