Hello, Just getting back in the game. I disassembled my truck over 20 years ago with ideas of restoring it, but life and other priorities were taking up my time. Well, I'm ready to get the truck back together. My plans have changed a little. I'm planning to add front disc brakes and maybe updated shocks (if I can find a rebuild kit for the lever action shocks, maybe I'll keep them). I'm swapping out the tired 216 for a 1960 235 and keeping the 4-speed transmission. I'm going to tackle rebuilding the torque tube rear axle this winter and swap to 3:55 gears. I bought the rear end kit from Patrick's back in 2004, so hoping all parts are still good. Not planning to paint the truck anymore. I want a nice dependable truck that looks like an old farmer's truck. I'm so glad for this group and the wealth for information waiting for me. Thanks to you all.

Welcome back to paradise. Please post a few pictures of your project. And work on it at least 15 minutes every day. You will have it up and running in no time.

Another quality post.

Welcome to the Bolt John! Here's a 3rd vote for pictures of your truck. wink Sounds like you have a great plan and lots of things already in hand to begin the work. As you get into specific areas and maybe need some help with technical info, post those questions in the best on-topic forums in the The Shop Area forums and folks can help you out. thumbs_up Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about your truck. smile

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone. (Testing the photo attachment.) Taking the truck apart years ago and today getting the front axle installed. In the future do I just start a new thread in the discussion area and post my updates there?

That depends on the subject. Engine questions go in the Engine forum, Driveline in the Driveline forum, etc. if you want to document your build, I suggest starting your journal in the DITY (Do it Yourself) Gallery forum. It’s the place to document your build at your pace.

Here is a link to the forum.
