Can I get some confirmation or did someone do some reaming.

Cleaning up a 3600 project tie rod ends, rod and arms.

Current ball ends have castle nut style on both the 3600 3/4 ton.
But when I went to put the newer 55-59 replacement ends on the tie rod and on the steering arm the new ones don't fit the 3600 steering arms.
Looks like they are 5/8 tapered and 3100/3200 are 1/2.

The ends came from a classic parts vendor full kit rod and tie rod ends supposedly for all 55-59 trucks which i now assume meaning all 3100/3200 1/2 tons.

The rod ends that came off were definitely old style originals.

Thoughts? and/or reality

After some heavy research.
It is confirmed that the 3/4 ton trucks have a different taper size on the ball stud for tie rod to steering arm.
There are new replacement studs available on several of our normal parts sites for old trucks
.
For those of you using stock/original tie rod ends this is not an issue as they fit both 3100/3200/3600 trucks and some larger.

For those of you "upgrading" to new style tie rod ends with a sealed ball joint. the 3/4 ton version with large shaft taper are NOT readily available. There are plenty for the 1/2 ton 3100/3200.
For the 3/4 ton I found one site that had the newer tie rod end and they wanted hundreds for it. I think they make them custom.

I had 3600 ball studs and stock tie rod ends so I just used those on the new larger tie rod.
