For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2021 Posts: 430 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2021 Posts: 430 | After some heavy research. It is confirmed that the 3/4 ton trucks have a different taper size on the ball stud for tie rod to steering arm. There are new replacement studs available on several of our normal parts sites for old trucks . For those of you using stock/original tie rod ends this is not an issue as they fit both 3100/3200/3600 trucks and some larger.
For those of you "upgrading" to new style tie rod ends with a sealed ball joint. the 3/4 ton version with large shaft taper are NOT readily available. There are plenty for the 1/2 ton 3100/3200. For the 3/4 ton I found one site that had the newer tie rod end and they wanted hundreds for it. I think they make them custom.
I had 3600 ball studs and stock tie rod ends so I just used those on the new larger tie rod. | | |
