Not quite sure if this has been discussed before, but what is the best way to check to see if your battery will not fail on you, I mean just go dead on you before you go out on a trip say 100 miles or so. Right now mine starts real good, everything works, but she is coming up on 5 years of service.. Thank you..

Batteries can but all over the place when it comes to longevity.

I have had some lately that where "4 year warranty" that didn't last 3
I have a two year battery in a tractor that is on its 10th year.

you can no longer trust brands now days do to all the manufacturer merging and brand trading. Diehard now at advance auto for example they are NOT the diehard batteries of yor they just bought the brand name and put it on someone else manufactured battery.

In my opinion its all about the cycles when it comes to car/truck batteries. The more cycles they have, or the more deep drawdowns they have, the shorter they last.



Example is the tractor battery. 12volt auto battery gets used maybe 6 to 8 times a year. never gets a deep draw because it has no draw when tractor is off.
My wife daily gets lots and lots and lots of cycles and a few deep drawdowns over the years and it starts hitting batteries around or past they warranty periods. I always know when its going because the startups tend to be a little longer and not as fast rpm on the starer after about the 3rd or 4th year and if i am lucky 5th. The Yukon always has a draw even when sitting with all the electronics.

my truck gets about half the yearly cycles and last twice and long normally.
The 56 goes a few years past its battery warranty normally. with the least cycles.

Now days because batteries are truly not like they use to be. I keep the quick jump Lithum under the seat in two of my vehicles. Used it on quite a few folks cars and once or twice on mine. Always jumper cables as well if needed to a really dead battery. And the last replaced core in garage so I have a core already when getting a new battery. My last round of batteries are all getting replace under warranty as a matter of fact. two this past month and one i just took out this week. The last 3 years I have found Walmart premium battery to be just as good as other brand name premiums and there is a Walmart in every town (or close to it) in case i am on the road and need replacement. The auto parts stores don't have as many locations all over.

I use lithum pro batteries now on all my deep cycle stuff. They just last so much longer than lead acid deep cycles. Cost more but a whole lot less worry and longevity.
