I have a 49 3600 The generator pulley is rubbing the generator making a tinging noise. it was doing it last year and I found the nut was loose tightened it and the noise went away. The generator seized up last week I ordered a generator swapped the pulley and it is doing it again. is there a spacer between the gen and the pulley ?
What part of the pulley is rubbing the generator? Can you post pictures? Is the pulley pushed too far onto the shaft?

A thin spacer between the front bearing and the fan can be fabricated from a flat washer if necessary- - - -use a "SAE" washer, which has a smaller outside diameter than the usual hardware store item- - - -plenty of them available on Ebay. Jerry

If the sheave was loose on the shaft, it is likely that the bore is now worn and may never fit snug enough to prevent it from a slight wobble, that will cause the nut to loosen again.
