I have a 1941 headlight bucket, drilled for the ‘41 parking light assembly- BUT it doesn’t fit a 1941-46 front fender. It seems to be made for a fender that has no left to right “slant”. Also, the large brace underneath is not slanted and the 1” hole is dead center. Could this be correct for a ‘41 COE???? Need help from the COE folks. Thanks!
1941-1946 COE Chevys use the same headlamp for both sides. Conventional trucks have left and right specific lamps. 1940 cars use a similar headlamp that also fits both sides.
Sounds like 35mike has the info on that headlight housing. Since it does sound like a COE part, I’ve moved the post over to Big Bolts for further discussion and confirmation from that group.

I would have to go to my shop to confirm the headlight bucket issue but I believe they are side specific, I have 2 chevys coes and pretty certain the buckets are side specific. The lamps are the same of course. Let me know and I will go to the shop and confirm for sure. And by the way the 41 and 46 are slightly different.

My dad bought a 1946 COE when I was 2 years old in 1950. We still have it. Beginning in the 1980s, I started to take a specific interest in them and we acquired 5 more of the 41/46 models. This was long before they became the darling of the "hack them to pieces" crowd. We have 3 complete trucks now. I have other old Chevy trucks, two 1928s, a 1936, three 1938s, a 1939 and a 1940. Two 1935 Chevy cars and three Model T Fords round out my fleet. I figured out early in the game that a parts book is my friend. I can answer most of my questions by referring to the information supplied by Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motor Corporation. I don't have to rely on the recollection of somebody's Uncle Dave, who once worked on the Chevrolet assembly line, or the old guy, down the road, that owned a similar model in 1958. My library of Chevy Parts manuals includes 30 or more pieces covering from 1928 into the 1970s. When I saw the original post on this subject, I was pretty sure that the head lamps were interchangeable from right to left. I wasn't sure and since Uncle Dave and the old guy down the road are both in the nursing home, I had no choice but to consult the appropriate Chevrolet Master Parts Catalog. I did this before writing my previous post. Here is what I found:
Group Number Part Name Part Number Application Number Required 2,725 Headlamp Assembly 925016 1941 COE 2 2.725 Headlamp Assembly. 925226 1941-1946 COE 2
There were footnotes explaining the difference between the two part numbers. The moral of the story is "BUY A G.D. PARTS CATALOG" and you don't have to come her for some B.S. anecdotal info the might or might not be correct. Am I a smart a--, maybe. Would you rather be a smart a-- or a dumb a--?
I agree the lamps are the same side to side but I am still pretty sure the buckets are side specific, next time I am at my shop I will I find out which A__ I am and will let you know. Dave

35 Mike, after careful consideration I believe. You are spot on. I didn't look. Close enough at the coe buckets, they arre the same conventional cab are side specifici. I didn't read the posts correctly. And made an as_ out of myself, BUT I learned something . Dave

I found out years ago that the COE buckets are both the same , when I found a head light bucket in a junk yard off a convention truck. My COE was VERY rusty, so portions of that head light bucket found it's way into both of my COE head light buckets! Worked great! The only difference is where they set on the fenders.
