I have an intake and exhaust manifold for a 216 that I am trying to find what year it might be. I've had no luck on internet so figured I would ask here. Exhaust number is 3885888. Intake is 3835527. Thanks Grady.

Grady, My Chevy Inline 6 Engines resource book shows an exhaust # of 3885388 for 1950-53 216. It doesn't show a "3885888" and that 3rd from last 8 in yours should actually be a "3" I think. The intake 3835527 is a match for 1950-53 216 also. If you do a bit more looking on the manifolds, there should be a date casting number starting with a single letter and a couple of numbers. If you can find them, post them here and we can decode what they mean.

Ok on intake is a L70 and also a 22. On exhaust is L80 and a 5. The 22 and 5 are on opposite side of the other numbers. The reason I'm researching this is because I have a rebuilt 51 motor. And I wanted to make sure it would work on it.

And yes the other number was a 3. Thanks, Grady.

L is December (or maybe November, I can't remember if they used I). A = January, B = February, etc.
7 is the 7th day of the month. If the day of month was 10 or more there would be 2 digits.
0 is the last digit of the year. 216 engines were built in 1940 and 1950.

This manifold did not leave the factory in your truck If your truck is a 1949 model.

The motor in my 49 isn't a 49 motor. It is a long story about my 49. I have learned alot from you all on here.
