I have a 1954 3604 , 3/4 ton truck. The "original" rims were 16" and I would like to know what the tires might have been when new. I've often seen pictures of trucks with narrow front tires and what I gues we'd call "snow tires" on the rear. Interestingly enough is the first AD truck I owned, had similar tires to what I've described.

Input, suggest and also pictures of "stock looking" tires would be helpful.
Thanks.

The Vehicle Information Kit gives these specs:

GM Heritage Center

Stardard: 15-6PR
Optional: 7.5-17-8PR

I would have expected a width spec on the standard tires, but maybe that wasn't strictly necessary? Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

Another page gives that same tire sizes.

It also shows that the platform height is ~2" lower on the standard tires (15") vs the optional (17") tires.

The rim difference accounts for 1" of height delta, so one could infer that the sidewall of the 16" wheels should be 6.5.

6.5-15 is a standard size from that vintage.

According to Coker, a 6.5-15 corresponds to a 185/80R15

But don't order from Coker. Order from a regular tire place or www.dbtires.com

Yes, I agree with Otto on that one as well. Coker has good information, but terrible value/quality.
