What is required to fit a 54 body on a 47 frame or can it be done without significant modifications??

I think the only issue would be the single mount point at the rear of the '47-48 cab/frame. But that can be dealt with by drilling holes for the later rear cab mount shackles in the web on the frame rails. Let me know if you need locations for the holes. My '51 frame is accessible to make measurements if needed.

Here's some info from Brad Allen's Flickr collection.

Thanks. I am considering a frame swap. I know of a 47 that has been completely redone with mustang II front end and 4-wheel disk brakes for sale. $8,500, $7,500 with core exchange. Would there be any issues dropping my original drivetrain (engine through rear axle) into the 47 frame? It also might be a good opportunity to upgrade to more modern engine, transmission and open driveshaft.

Don't forget that the 54 bed won't fit the earlier frame. Most everything else can be dealt with but the bed can be a problem. The original early bed relied on wood blocks to raise the bed high enough to clear the frame over the axle but the 54-5 bed doesn't use wood blocks.

54 bell housing won't work with the earlier frame - different mounts and cross member.
