I’m looking at purchasing a 50 Chevy 3100 that has no motor or transmission..I have a 235 engine with a bellhousing from a 57 car. l am hoping to find a 3 speed manual transmission since truck has column shifter. My question is can I use that bellhousing? I believe I have the flywheel and starter from car. Would l be able to get my stomp starter to work on that bellhousing? What other problems will arise? Thanks,Rick

Car and truck bellhousings are noticeably different- - - the -motor mounts won't interchange, and there aren't any bolt holes on the car part to mount the foot starter linkage. Your 1950 truck uses mounts that are basically vertical. In 1954, the trucks switched to a 45 degree angled mount, so you'll need to find a 1953 or earlier truck housing, or switch to a 54-up firewall area crossmember with the angled mounts.

Rick, If Mike "kades51" can't help you out, post an ad in the Truck Parts Wanted forum. Some other Bolters may be able to help or offer tips on a source near you. If you can, let us know whereabouts in WV you might be as it could help in locating something closer to you. wink

Rick, Check out the Swap Meet's Truck Parts For Sale forum as I think there are a couple of 1950 3 speeds being offered in there currently. If one of those doesn't fit your need, post an ad in the Truck Parts Wanted. In the meantime, when I get a chance I will see what may be out there in your neck of the woods and will let you know if I find anything. wink

Mike DID help Rick and sent the parts. Mike suggested he send a donation to the site as his "thanks." The check is on its way. On behalf of The Collective, thank you both!! grin
