I have a strange problem. I have a Yankee 730/6 turn signal control I am trying to wire. I have a wiring diagram that is supposed to be for this model. The wiring diagram shows 7 wires. I only have 6. I google the Yankee 730/6 and received multiple response. some showed the 730/6 with 7 wires and some showed it with 4 wires. I can't find a 6 wire anywhere much less a wiring diagram for a 6 wire. It also appears a previous owner re-wired it. there appears to be 2 blue wires, (one of which I think should be the brown wire). I appear to be missing the Red wire for it to be a 7 wire unit. Should this unit have a Red wire and where should it be connected. In the picture I show a R on the connecting block. should the red wire be under the screw I point to?
Those installation instructions look suspiciously like SignalStat 900 instructions. And with no company name on them, I wonder if they are correct for your unit. Does your unit have a four way flasher switch, Code F in your instructions?

Yes, the last 2 picture shows the same connecting block I have. It shows my missing red wire, but I almost missed it. You have to look real close. It terminates under the orange wire between the green and orange wire connectors. I went out and looked at mine and see where it goes, and it does have the R stamped in the block. I guess it is supposed to solder to that little button.
I did install a replacement Yankee 730/6 turn signal switch. It is definitely a seven-wire switch. The wiring diagrams I have are the same ones that have been posted. I'll include a few pics for reference.
Unfortunately, the pics don't show the red wire connection.
Update on the wiper switch. I soldered the red wire to the correct location and installed the switch. It only worked on one site. I tried everything. I pulled the switch back apart and there is no connectivity through the one side. it wasn't until then I also notice I was missing an internal piece. The one marked "For brake switch" in the pictures Andy posted. The eBay seller clearly had to know they were selling junk. I did a search and found you can still buy this brand new on Amazon. Rather than fighting with it and attempting to repair it, I order a new one for $17. Had I known I could get a new one for that price I never would have sourced an original from eBay. I like the thought of having an original but for something like this there are too many things that can be bad or go wrong. It is supposed to arrive today.
That's too bad. The first one I installed was from JC. It held up for about nine years or so. I purchased the original used Yankee on EPay. It's made with much better internal components than the knock-off was. Good luck!
Would it be possible to use the original case around the new switch? Just a thought to be able to have one that at least looks period correct.
I have the new one from JC that I painted to match the steering column, but after John's mega thread on using a 4 wire switch, I restored my original AutoLamp switch and will be using that with a 4-relay block hidden under the dash. The relays should fit well attached to the steering column support.

I will be doing it this evening but considering I had all the wiring done with the old unit it should be quick and easy put the new unit in. I just needed to connect the 7 wires under the dash that have already been identified. I will update once I am done.
I won't tell you how many times I had to climb under the truck and go under the hood to verify wires but other than that the install went well. I know have turn signals and emergency flashers.
Dave, Congrats on getting your turn signals installed. Were you able to use the older case on the newer switch?
I am in the process of wiring a 4 relay block to use my old 4-wire turn signal switch, but just discovered that in order to be able to use 4-way flashers with the ignition off, the turn signals will also work with the ignition off. Both the flasher and the signal switch need to be powered at all times. Even with the original wiring for the 4-wire it would have to be that way. I just have to remember to turn my turn signals off when shutting down the engine. Probably a minor thing.

I think that the clicky-clicky of the relays will clue me in, at least until I lose my hearing completely. There's a pilot light on the turn signal switch too. That should help till I lose my eyesight, too.

My signal relay came with a buzzer. Yes, my turn signals and 4 ways are powered full time. I have not hooked it up yet, but I think I might. I have not attempted too fit the new unit in the old case but I will be doing that this weekend now that I know I have the wiring is correct and everything works. Well, almost everything works. On the test drive I realized there are indicator lights on top of the unitl that is supposed to light up when the turn signal or 4-ways are on. They do not. I will be opening the case to see if it is something simple. I will check the fit of the olde case at that time.
