I just went through the engine block cleaning and unclogging the block drain.
I have a new radiator with an electric fan that will be going in soon.
I want to install a toggle switch to bypass the temperature sensor to turn on as needed I was told I need to install a diode between the fan and the temp sensor so not to send a reverse current to the sensor or relay.

2. "I was told I need to install a diode" by whom?
3. Wire it per the instructions from fan company. I don't see any diagrams showing a diode. If diode fails, you won't know it.
4. If you need a fan on a 235 with a new radiator, you got problems.
5. You don't mention a relay?.....or fuses. These are your safety items.
6. Let the fan turn itself on....

That way it's sure to shut off when the engine stops, even if you forget to switch off. I've seen batteries run down by leaving accessories turned on with an override switch when the driver leaves the override on accidentally.
