Has anyone located a good source for the front motor mount? Steele Products offers a re-vulcanizing service, but I haven't found a source f1or a New Replacement part.

FWIW, the original part number for the 1960-62 235/261 single front engine mount is GM# 3763767.
I may have more info a little bit later when I can go sneak a peek at the 1962 235 I have stashed waiting to go into my 1951 3100. Will try to get back on that sometime later today.

Thanks. I haven't come across any new or reproductions as yet. Several vendor offer a re-vulcanizing service, the original has some issues though.

Yes. 1 piece construction. 1 bolt to the engine... 2 bolts to the frame. 1960 until the end of the 235. Scarce part.

Not sure how much better it really may be??? I have a 1962 235 from a farmers C20 I snagged awhile back that still had the front mount installed. That engine is waiting in the wings to be installed in my 1951 3100 to upgrade from the 1954 passenger car 235 currently in there.
Below are pictures of what a well worn but still mostly intact front mount looks like. Seems age and probably oil seepage from the front crankshaft seal has caused it to compress/squat under load. The upper leading edge actually has a groove rubbed into it from contact against the crank balancers edge.
This one is probably a candidate for re-vulcanizing.

I had the same problem, ended up Mcguyvering mine.
The two bottom bolts can be knocked out, I then drilled appropriate size holes in the rubber then welded two bolts to the top plate to run down through the rubber and out through the frame mount. There are little nubs on the to plate where bolts can be welded.. I used flat washers and a nut on each bolt but not so tight as to overly compress the rubber the added lock nuts to hold everything in place. At least 15,000 miles on this set up so far without issue
The cost will be long forgotten while the quality will be long remembered.
When buying parts for a 75 year old truck, I'm generally grateful that they are available at any price.

Jethro saved the day. I will decide what to do with the other mount once I get replaced. I believe it is worth keeping.

Yes, but it is the early AD style that is readily available from most vendors.

True, but being in Canada and with the value of our dollar difference and with shipping fees and duties and timeline I opted for the Mcguyver system. I have since purchased a rebuilt one through another bolter but have found no reason to switch them yet. I'll hang onto it though as I still have my original 235 in inventory and would need the mount should I decide to do something with it.
Educate me: Is that 1960-62 front mount specifically designed for the 1960s crossmember? Or is there something unique about the engine that needs that mount.
I guess what I’m really getting at…is the mount specific for the truck, or specific to the engine? For instance, I have a 1962 engine in a 1951 truck. I have always assumed my mount is the earlier style ….matched to the truck.
(All that said, I’d also assume one could adapt either mount to either the early or late engine)
The front engine mount for the '60 - '62 is specific to that chassis using a 235. The difference is that while the earlier mount used 4 bolts on the lower portion, the '60 - '62 uses 2 studs. As far as the engine side is concerned, both mounts use the same holes on the engine block. The engine casting design was not changed to accommodate a new chassis design. As far as using a later model engine you would still need to deal with the side mount design, that started in '62 with the 230.

I have paid exactly zero attention to my front engine mount. Other than note that it’s oil soaked and probably needs attention someday. I’ll have to see what they did. I’d assume it’s an early mount bolted to a late engine.
I received the front motor mount from Jethro. It's in great condition unlike the gummy, deteriorated original. I will hold on the the original and possibly have it re-vulcanized in the future. Thanks again to Jethro and the power of the "BOLT".
