Good afternoon and Happy New Year 😁. I’m assembling the chassis of my '46 1-1/2 ton truck. I tried to take pictures etc during disassembly but I can not remember where these stiff springs and thick washers go. See photo. Can anyone tell me where they are to be installed? Thanks in advanced for your help.

Look like cab mounting springs, go at rear of cab, 1 in each corner. Might want to get a kit to go with them, takes away a lot of clunks.
Here is the link:

Iirc the rear ones go inside the cab᠁.

Thanks for your response.I have the cab mounting bolts and springs. The springs on the cab mounts are lighter than those I’m inquiring about. The cab mounting info will come in handy down the road.

They look like Tie Rod End Springs to me...they push on the cups that go around the stud ball.

Mike, you might be right. I better check my drag link and tie rod to make sure I didn’t forget to install them but I’m pretty sure I did them correctly because they are very similar to my model A.

They could also be core support springs.

What do core support springs do?
I did a quick search and got Sealy Mattress stuff.

Side note: I read in link that the ‘46 cab mounted at 4 points per side- my , that’s a lot of fastening. How come?

They allow for frame to twist and not rip the fenders off the cab when on uneven ground.

This is a screen shot captured photo from a long ago, I believe no longer active website, that might help too? Sheridan was a a tremendous information resource and active information contributor here and elsewhere.

Tried to find Tim's old website but to no avail. That's too bad. He has a great 1947 First Series Chevy 1/2-Ton in the Legacy Gallery. thumbs_up

Thanks everyone. I’m still around and have all of my resources. Occasionally get emails I’ll respond to at 46chevy@att.net.

Glad to see the Bolt is still going strong.
