Working on swapping transmission on my 1954 3604 and I cannot get the dust cover to move forward / drop down to remove it. The motor mount has it pinched against the bell housing . I replaced the motor mounts a couple years ago and didn't notice an issue. What should I do? Loosen the front mount, loosen the rear mounts, jack the motor up to remove the dust cover? Then take a dremel tool to mount to remove rubber for clearance? Thought about taking a knife or other tool to remove material as it sits. Idea's ??

You will need to loosen or take the bolts out of the mounts & raise the back of the engine a little. Do you have spacers around the bolts between the two mounts? Sometimes those get left out & it squashes the mount when you tighten them down. The guys that design & make these after market parts have never used them.

George, I loosened the rear motor mount bolts and I was able to pry it out with a little persuasion... the mount actually bent the dust cover "up" where it made contact. Its a replacement dust cover and I'm curious if maybe its the wrong "year" cover?

Trim the dust cover so it clears the mount. It's not like half an inch of sheet metal more or less is going to affect the performance of anything, and the "dust cover" doesn't really seal dust- - - -it mostly keeps pieces of gravel from bouncing up and getting grabbed by the flywheel ring gear.
