on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2019 Posts: 439 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2019 Posts: 439 | Tore apart and cleaned out the dirt and painted the starter so it is pretty. the oilable end bushing and brushes look decent. but the flywheel side bushing is worn egged on one side and pretty sloppy so I went into NAPA to see if I could get lucky. He said they were the same for decades with only one choice, ordered it and it isn't even close. From measuring the shaft and casting I figure the bushing should be around a .515-.52 ID and .61-.615 OD. the Part number 4200 they sold me is about a .51 OD. (even smaller than the actual shaft) The old bushing I pulled out was made with a split and kind of like ears on the end to retain it in place. The starter appears to be like the pictures of being correct as the foot stomp was changed a few years later, so I think it is original. Suggestions?
