Today I want to run her and blew alot of black soot out of the tail pipe...also noticed that when she lugged she blew some oil smoke...and everytime I shifted she puffed oil smoke...She has a 1966 261 straight 6 in there....one speed rear end

Otherwise first thing I would do is pull the plugs and 'read' them. Are they oily or sooty?

Regardless of what engine your 1947.1 283EC GMC 3-Ton has in it, this problem sounds like worn valve guides. Any true black smoke would be excess fuel, but as you are aware, the blue smoke is burning oil.
