My truck has a 1979 Pacer front suspension and I was driving it today in a crosswind and it was a little squirrely. Would an anti-sway bar help with that? Also, I have a 1979 Nova rear suspension, and would installing one on the rear help?

I doubt it would help. Sway bars work because one side of the vehicle wants to be lower to the ground than the other side, as when turning a corner.

There are actually anti- sway bars AND anti-roll bars, what most folks here are referring to as anti-sway are really anti -roll bars. They help reduce body roll when cornering. In a cross wind, an anti-sway might add some benefit IF one could fit it. I've not seen an anti-sway on the front end of a vehicle. Anti-sway may also be called a Panhard rod.

Your Pacer front suspension came with a "stabilizer bar", unless it was removed during install onto your truck.
See the screenshot below and look at your "stabilizer bar" mount brackets and tie bolts (both sides of the suspension).
It's possible that after all the years you have had the unit installed that one or more of the mounts or tie bolts has failed and isn't keeping the bar firmly attached to the suspension and doing it's job.
Your suspension is due for a closer inspection/evaluation and possible maintenance.
Guitplayer,
That's the right "original style" unit for the truck, but won't work with Ron's later "Pacer" front suspension (it aint stock).

Ron, You need an AMC mechanic to check all of the steering and front suspension components. He should be about as busy as the Maytag repairman is these days. You have had your truck for a while. Parts wear out.
