Have an original Rochester GM 1 barrel carb that I want to rebuild. I haven’t taken it off the engine yet and was wondering if there is a number or stamping somewhere on the carb that will assist in procuring the correct rebuild kit. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
There may or may not be a triangular shaped brass tag attached to one of the 4 screws that holds the airhorn to the float bowl. If there is, it will have a number. That's what I was thinking based on your posts. There is a high likelihood your carburetor has been rebuilt by somebody (or maybe more than one somebody) along the way. If it has a manual choke it is likely a B model. If auto choke, somebody swapped a BC. Jon H can help you figure it out and will be able to get you the right kit. Soon there will be a TechTip dedicated to the Rochester and it may also be of help.

Like Gord&Fran said... take it off, dump out the gas, clean the mounting flange real good and look for a number. That would be the model #. It was stamped then the surface was planed flat so it may not be visible without a good cleaning. Also... not all flanges were stamped. Get a pic of the carb and the inside of both halves. Get the # off of the little brass plug inside. Should be 58 for a 235.
